Surrounding area

Bogarve 1915 is located in Madridejos, 69 km to the south of Toledo and 120 km from Madrid (less than 90 minutes away), which makes it highly accessible from both cities.
Madridejos lies within the extensive plains of La Mancha, in the heart of Don Quixote country. If you come to see us, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit the town’s churches, square, windmill (one of the oldest in La Mancha) and underground houses (known as silos). You can also visit one of the few museums in the world dedicated to saffron. In late October there is a Saffron Festival, with activities and workshops taking place at the former convent that now houses the museum.

In addition to saffron, Madridejos produces other high-quality crops such as grapes, cereals, olives and almonds. In our shop you can find a selection of the finest local products, including olive oil, almonds, saffron, confectionery, pisto (ratatouille), pâté and honey.

Some 15 km from the town are the mountains of the Sierras de Madridejos, also known as the Sierras de Valdehierro. They lie within the Sierra del Reventón, a broad massif which itself forms part of the Montes de Toledo mountain range, where Mediterranean woodland (characterised by species such as holm oak, rosemary, lavender, jasmine and pine) predominates. The area is the starting-point for a number of trails, including a route to the famous cave where the notorious bandit Castrola had his hideout. From there, a spectacular vantage point looks out over the scrubland of La Mancha, La Muela Castle and the neighbouring towns.
Some of the most interesting, in aesthetic and architectural terms, are Consuegra, Tembleque, Puerto Lápice, Orgaz and Campo de Criptana.
